How to do external for PD+Gem (also how to began in C++)

Hi,

I'd like to connect my PIEZO-ELEMENT to PD. I wand to change the pure input amplitude to an electric sound as an output. I have a microphone preamplifier to increase the signal. Do I have to transform it to a midi signal for DP in order to use the input or is there a way to simply use the input signal via analog mini plug. Are there already programmed patches for this? This might be a simple question, but can you help to give me an address where to find more information about this particular case?
