since i always have a bad feeling when i delete spam from the puredata.info portal, i would like people to accept a "terms of use" text on registration.
when might this be of importance:
- deleting spam content
- deleting spamming users
- deleting automatically created users (this should be handled by captchas, but spammers always find a way to circumvent protective stuff)
- when the server goes down and data loss occurs (puredata.info is not a backup server for your videos)
- inactive users
- a lot of users only create an account and that is the only time we hear from them
- i don't know whether this is really problematic, but it might bear a security risks and a ressource risk.
- otoh, what makes "activity"? a login once a year? SubVersion activiy?
- copyright problems of content published on this site:
- what happens if people publish content that they must not
- what happens if people publish their own content under a restrictive license?
- ideally the entire content at puredata.info would be under a free license, with a default to some CC license but people are free to choose another free license.
why this sucks:
- how "free" can a "terms of use" be?
- quite bureaucratic, ain't it?
